    Right off the bat, I want to mention the fact that I never played the original Mafia, so I won't be able to compare/contrast the gameplay and plot between the two titles.

    What I can tell you is that Mafia II delivers a quentissential cinematic mafia allegory in the form of a 3rd person action game. Plot and ambience are the primary motivations behind the production of the game, and while the gameplay never hinders your enjoyment, it's not exactly a selling point either.

    What the creators of Mafia II did right is insantly recognizable in all of the facets of Empire Bay, the ficticious New York pseudo-city that you haunt for the majority of the game. ...

    Counter-Strike 1.6 Returns

    We are once again hosting Counter-Strike 1.6. The server will be hosted for at least one month in order to trial interest. We'll see how things go from there. The server is running a basic AMXX package for administration. The map cycle is a tight rotation of DE maps, all stock. No gameplay addons are installed, and we're leaving stats off for now. Friendly Fire is of course on. We're running it with our normal 12 round winlimit.

    There was some discussion of this user group in another thread, but for anyone who missed it I wanted to post this on the front page. For Gamehavoc members who have battle.net accounts, and actively play WoW or SC2, we have created a special moderated user group to post your battle.net user info. You can request access by clicking on the 'Forums' button on the main bar, clicking the 'Community' drop down right below that, and choosing the 'Groups' option. Look for the Battle.net User List group and request access.

    Now that APB has been out for a while, I wanted to give my impressions after a couple weeks of live gameplay. This game is very fun, and has tended to overtake my MW2 time. However it's a difficult game with a long learning curve. The game has frustrated me to the point of almost quitting on several occasions, but in the end I actually enjoy myself while playing it to much to give up. It would certainly be fun if more GH people played, but for now I just want to put out the information.

    The Resurgence Map Pack for MW2 has been released for the PC & PS3 today. Steam should automatically download the update. To play, you need to join the Resurgence or Resurgence Hardcore playlists.

    The Resurgence Pack features 3 new maps, and 2 previously released MW1 maps.

    Picked this one up yesterday for the Xbox after randomly finding out about it the day before. The point of the game is that you play as Naughty Bear. A stuffed teddy bear with a few seams missing and some stuffing showing. Naughty Bear is generally hated/picked on by the other bears of Paradise Island. So, depending on the level Naughty gets sick of it and decides to do something about it. The "something" is killing all the other bears on Paradise Island. Now theres a few different ways to kill the bears; you can beat on them with a weapon, lay a trap for them, or (the best part) drive them bat-shit insane until they kill themselves.

    New GamerCards plugin is now active. Go into your Profile and add your Xbox Live, Playstation network, Wii, Xfire or Steam Community profiles. For Steam Community, this is the part of your profile that appears in the steamcommunity.com URL, not your Valve STEAMID used for counter-strike admin, etc. My profile url is http://steamcommunity.com/id/ferret/ so my ID is 'ferret'

    The old 'New Posts' button can now be accessed by clicking 'What's New' on the header nav bar at the top.
