Saw the movie for the first time this weekend. It is based on the Anime series, and it was really cool. I havn't seen the Anime version in full yet, but will be borrowing it from a friend this week. Was wonering if anyone else has seen it.

I really enjoyed the movie, even though it was really long. The fact that they used almost no CG in the whole movie is amazing. The drivers of those cars drifting was amazing. Story was good, but from what I understand they mushed some of the characters together into one.

It was alright, and I was surprised to see a Japanese anime series as a Chinese (HK) live-action film. That said, the actors were alright, although the subs were off on a lot of the meaning, though still watchable. The cars were great, and the stunt drivers were amazing. I haven't seen the anime either, so I have no comparison. If you're into Japanese mountain drifting, the next Fast & the Furious will be set in Japan featuring mountain drifting... for better or worse... probably worse if you saw #2.

Ya I caught the second fast and furious on starz one afternoon...was completely terrible. I dont see how the producers of those movies could ever create something good based on there past experience.

About Initial D though, I agree the acting wasn't awesome, I rate the acting around a 7.5 on a scale of 10. Cant comment on subtitles since i dont speak any variation of Chinese, but I would assume it's off a lot knowing the challenges of the language.

i have it on my hdd. my bro watched it, said it followed the anime storyline pretty well, as well as the humor. i'll check it out sometime within the week maybe. :D
