OK I wanted to put 2000 on a new systeme but I dont have that.

So this is possible to me.

HP MEDIA CENTRE M380N, PIV3GHZ, 512MB (UP TO 4GB), 160 GB, DVD/RW, DVD, 7IN1 CARD READER, FIREWIRE, GFORCE FX5200 128 MB 8XAGP, TV IN/OUT, TV TUNER CARD, REMOTE CONTROL, SUBWOOFER, WINDOWS XP MC

I know its a HP but my price on this would be 650-660$ USD.
I know the HD are 7200RPM 2meg and the memory are 333 or more
I know the product of ATI so I dont know if the FX5200 is a good card.

What you think guys

Hell. You can scratch another $60 or so dollars off if you get an Athlon XP-M 2400+, and overclock it to 400mhz FSB. Scratch off that ABIT MB and get the A7N8X from ASUS, its only $80 and is proven to overclock very well. Grab the EXTREME Volcano 12 instead of the Volcano 9 for some serious cooling (But it'll be louder)

You'll easily pass the benchmarks for a 3200+ 400FSB.

Look at the voltage on the 3000+. It's already running at desktop voltages... as far as the multipliers go, that means...

Yeah, but note your own post: $661.98, case at your discretion. He's trying to stay around or under $650, so he's got to lose some stuff to get his case/PS

keep in mind sidark may not know how to build / install his own... if he does, he'd be NUTS to buy HP :X

other wise he can talk over teamspeak/irc and we can help him build it via the net. however its not always that easy as you need to know jumper settings on mobo's sometimes.

DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT get a FX5700, get a FX5900XT, FX5900(non-ultra), FX5900U or a FX5950U. GeForce 4ti200 outperforms a FX5700 on most benchies. Spend the extra 10bucks and get a 5900 lvl card.

I can build my own and overclock and so. My bro is a freaking tech and propably knows way more than people here. The thing like ferret said I dont want a comp now. I just want something OK.
Look at it this way, I could take a Hp amd 3000+ would be only 350 and add a nice ATI card in it and it will still be fine.

CAuse what I want as a comp would cost me like 2000$.

ah ok sidark... the thing people are getting to here is that you can build a better system for the same 600.00.

i mean, if you truley didnt care if this was a POS or not, you wouldnt have asked right? so im to assume you wanted to know if it was decent or not.

i think the general concensus is that you could build a better machine for the same money. if you dont want to do so, then thats a different story.

If that is the case, perhaps the posed question should be, is this prebuilt a better buy than the rest of the prebuilt gateway / dell deals.

dunno.

NO you guys did awnser well, I wanted to know if this was a good price for what it was.

If I get all the stuff on my own and build it, would it be cheaper.
and it was, I can get cheaper so you guys help me!!!

I have everything at home, and with my work I can get good memery 512ddr pc3200 for like 100$ CDN or less.

Anyways, I'll at what I can get for 650-700 out there.

all i have to say for an overclocking motherboard is the dfi lanparty nforce2 ultra. its a bit expensive but it kills asus, epox, and abit in overclocking potential and flexibility.

Well if you plan to overclock some then go with the dfi. it also comes with rounded cables that look very nice under a led. its voltage options are awesome. 0.25v increments up to 1.85 and it goes all the way to 2v at 0.5v increments. you can raise agp voltage from 1.5 to 1.8 and even raise chipset voltage to 1.9v (for stability using high front system buses) and raise ram voltages ALL THE WAY to 3.3v. Asus, Abit, and Epox only reach 2.8v w/o a volt mod. It also comes with a case carrying thingy with small pockets to store assorted things. THis motherboard will most definitely let you get the most out of your rig. This motherboard ran at 260FSB!!! This only flaw i can see in this motherboard is the absence of the 4 motherboard mounting holes that would allow water-cooling or even a prommie.

got this all from cluboc
