Ventrilo vs Teamspeak

Please weight in your opinions on which we should use. I've had contact with an individual who is involved with Ventrilo, and the offer has been made to possibly provide us with a license for 2.2 as we're a gaming community and not a rental service.

I personally have no issues with Teamspeak, but some of you have known preferences for Ventrilo. Please voice your opinions so I can make the call to keep Teamspeak or switch us to Ventrilo.

ive used both.
for some reason i recall hearing that ventrillo uses less bandwidth.
ventrillo is nice as you can set up away messages, key binds to say things (quick messages).

the sound of the program itself is good too.

i mean, if you can get a free license (wahoo! gj!) why not just set it up and hop back and forth and try them out? ill help you out. i'm good at talking :)

This is definately planned. Tonight we'll see about playing with it. We can install 2.2 without the license to test, though we'll be limited to 8 slots. Vent binds itself to all interfaces, not the IPs, and only allows itself to run on the default port without the license.

I'd help you out as well, but I was informed yesterday that I have family coming in this evening. But I really have no problem with either program, although I thought vent was a little clearer than TS2.

I personally like TS better, ive tried Ventrillo before and it just didnt have the same flow of use. If i was forced to use it then I guess I would, but I really dont feel like using it. TS is what I usually use and there are a different number of servers I am able to join. If you run Vent, that means Ill have to switch programs to join the chat with you guys. Not a big deal, but also more of a pain then just clicking my preconfiged connects for TS. Ill be around for a little while this evenig Ferret, so im willing to test them out with you. Not sure how long I have since my gf is coming for the weekend and Im sure I will get in hella 4th of july travel traffic on the way home. If im around ill be glad to help out.

On vent you cant use mouse 4 and 5(i use 4), and i know some cant use vent while ingame, and i think TS is a lot more user friendly.

i used vent before i found TS... vent was on on our NAKED clan server and the binds were cool and stuff but what can get annoying is people spam those binds and can put in binds for text-to-speech that can be vugal and im not sure if you can block it... like for example (don't ban me please... only an example) "Ferret is gay." or "Ferret is a fu**ing loser" TS there is no bind system like that and i thought it was kool that u had to register with that server compared to vent where you can just change ure name or come in as anybody who knows the password compared to TS where if they are unregistered its like a red flag...

so my vote is close but 51% TS 49% Vent but i really dont care i can use both and have both....
