First of all... is Ascension really just to frustrate us with that damn doppleganger?
Second, does anyone have any tips on picking up elite skills? I haven't even tried anything around the Drok area for a real fight yet, and still had Dragon's to go through, but I'm thinking I want to pick up some of the 60 armor from Marhan's or Granite, whichever has Judge's and Saintly Monk armor before trying Dragon's Lair since I get owned if the meat shields don't do their job and let me worry about keeping them alive. :?:

Find what skill you want and where it's at, then go there. Ask for an elite skill group - chances are more than just you want it.
As for monk tips for ascension... I've got none. The last thing I heard was take as many res's as you can and then have one healing spell and try and beat him with a good weapon.

I guess I'll have to look up eliteskill locations. Thanks.
I beat my doppleganger, after getting owned about a dozen times. I finally realized I was only used the same 2 skills while he was using all of them, so I sabotaged my skill list with a bunch of my necro blood sacrifices and watched him kill himself faster than the one healing skill could fix.
As for a good weapon... I really need a good rod for my monk, haven't seen a staff that even comes close to my focus item and rod.

for a monk, the only healing skill you should really have is healing breeze. the doppleganger will not (or cannot) use it. equip a lot of spells/skills that take a lengthy time to cast.

Yeah, I had healing breeze, retribution, blessed aura and then a bunch of blood sacrifice skills when I beat him. I wish I would have had scourge sacrifice. But as it was he was dead in 22 seconds for the bonus, so it worked out. I hit blessed aura and retribution before I stepped on the 3rd stone, then just let him attack me and do the sacrifices.

My warrior just beat the shit out of him no problem. Didn't change any skills, walked up and owned his ass first try.

Yeah, I can see a warrior doing that. I think Monk is harder because we're generally setup for healing/protection and not so much damage. Though maybe I just haven't found the right smiting combination. :P
