Guys im coming clean, i think I have an addiction to www.newegg.com. I just sit there and ponder what to buy, searching through each page deciding what to buy next. Last week i purchased a new video card, this week i ordered two Seagate Barracuda 120gb 8mb cache SATA drives that are gonna become a RAID 0. I also ordered a NEC DVD+R/RW DVD-R/RW DVD+R (Dual-Layer). Thats 480bucks in two weeks hehe. Anways, my FedEx stuff should/will be here by Friday :-).

So does anyone else have a newegg addiction?

I made pretty large order from there a month ago after making a large order at a local computer store, then was ready to make one more but I starting spending too much cash. I sort of got addicted to putting together computers...

I like newegg except for them using FedEx. In addition to me not liking them for no reason, they refuse to drop packages off at the office of my apartment complex, instead bringing it every day and finding out I'm not home until I specifically wait outside for the truck to come and I meet the FEdEx guy at the door.

Yay to the USPS service. Anytime I have something shipped from them, it goes cross country in 2.5 days with their cheapest service.

See i love FedEx, i personally have the problem u described with FedEx with UPS here where i live. I think it all depends on what part of the country you live in.

rofl, they just dropped my motherboard at the door when I ordered it. they didnt even knock or ring the doorbell. I just heard a truck outside, then a thump at the door.

Rofl, that's cause they read how much you were bitching on line so they didn't even stop, just threw it out the truck like a frisbee into your door.

Delivery drivers tend to be sensitive like that, you make fun of them, and you'll end up regretting it

he is looking for a mirroring raid, not a striped raid.

you wouldnt be offering him any redundancy.
im pretty sure when i talked to him, he wanted it mirroring not striped -- i know raid 0 is stripe also. i think he hit the wrong key.

No im going for the RAID 0 (didnt hit the wrong key). Remember at the lan when my HD was shitting a brick, well hopefully this will fix that problem. I want the performance increase and ill also be getting 240gb of space (thats just insane) plus the current 220gb I already have (OMG a total of 460gb, thats ridiculous; sorry just realizing hehe).

I was actually looking at purchasing two 74gb Raptor drives, however I just cant justify spending 400bucks on 150gb of space. If you check out the benchmarks, the RAID 0 on SATA 7200rpm drives really isnt that far off from the RAID on SATA 10,000rpm Raptor drives. Sure its better, but hey for 200bucks less I am getting almost the same speed. Also, like i said i spend 200bucks last week at newegg, plus the 280bucks this week so i think it would have hurt my pocket a lot more to have spend almost 700bucks on upgrades that i didnt REALLY need. These upgrades were more for fun and cause i wanted to spend some of the money I have been earning so far this summer.

I have that case. While being the largest case I've ever worked in, I find it a bit tight front to back. My video card needs to be removed to get enough clearance to get the hard drive cradle out.

Ironically, it has too much room top to bottom, where I had to get extra long IDE cables to hook up my optical drives.

I bought a cheap-o $42 case/power supply and though it was a tad roomier in that respect (though much more cheaply made.

I want one of those cases where the hard drives sit sideways, so all the connectors face you when you take off the side.

Never seen a case like that Uthor. I've seen 90 degree rotated cases (Like my Lian-Li) ... The HDDs are arrayed with the cables still facing the back of the case, but they are sideways instead of flat. I can easily remove the cradle too. I believe it allows for more drives and better airflow.

PeregrineFalcon

I still have found no reason to upgrade my case. It is over 3.5 years old. Eventually I will, i just find having more power always a better upgrade.

My reason was that my old case sucked ;P No air flow at all, one fan mount in the front (Despite the front having no vents) and nothing in the back/sides/top

i only have 1 spot for a fan and that is the exhaust, so I get 0 airflow... so, the 5 fan mounts was a selling point, along with the 430W power supply as opposed to my 230W...

I've seen it in a magazine somewhere. It's probably in my closet, but I'm not gonna look through all the issues to find it. I looked on newegg quickly, but didn't see it. Maybe I dreamt it? If so, I think I should market it....

Well, it IS larger than my previous cases, but I never had an AGP video card until I bought this case, and it's causing my problems that I haven't had before with room front-to-back when I had on board video.

I ordered the A510A (the one i believe you are lookin at). It is great so far. I watched a DVD on it last night( worked great). Once I figure out how to rip DVDs and copy them ill let you know if i get any coasters. This is my first DVD anything in a PC so ill have to learn.

In regards to making the purchase, like blue_sniper said, it only makes sense. I previously had (still installed though), a 5 year old 8x HP CD-R, it still worked well. That was the last disc drive i had bought in a long time. This small $80 purchase is worth it for me any way you look at it. Im getting the functionality of 3 drives in 1 with this things. From what ive heard its one of the best DVD burners (for the price), and the best DL currently on the market. I have read from others that they have had no problems with it and promote its purchase. Also, the prices of DVDs have dropped greatly, grante the DLs are almost impossible to find now and are gonna be more expensive, but with time they will drop and remember thats DOUBLE the amount of space on a DVD. That means when you make 'backups' of your DVD movies (.:snicker:.) you dont need to compress them as much to get higher quality and you can also fit the 5.1 dolby digital surround tracks of the movie on there.

It's nice, the one big fan on the back sucks air from the front vents, over the HDs, over the CPU and RAM, and out the back. And it's really quiet too. And since the HD's are rotated 90 degrees, the airflow isn't blocked by the cables, plus easier to get access to the connectors.

Can you get me a link to this Ferret? Last night during installation of my 2 new HDs and new DVD burner I realized Im gonna need a new case soon since I cant find some of the extra mountings for the new HDs. Currently my crappy 60gb IBM 2mb cache (that like to make clicking noises) is dangling in a 5.25 drive bay. Since my birthday is coming up in about a month I figure I can make my wish list at newegg and have my family just go there to get my gifts. Just curious as to the case you have and pics/specs. Thx

But: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-112-024&depa=1
