SPEND AN EXTRA AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR A 9800 PRO. THAT 9800 HAS HALF THE BANDWIDTH OF A REG 9800. that is all. oh and you are really cheaping out with that motherboard with the sis chip. get a motherboard with the intel 865/875 chipset.

And? I just built one, an Athlon 2500 Barton 333mhz FSB.. Guess what? Running it at 422mhz FSB. :P The extra memory bandwidth has traditionally helped P-4s ONLY in Quake3 based games, and not always. Traditionally by benchmark, if you're a gamer, you want AMD. Better performance in gaming, and cheaper.
If you did my system, Athlon 2500, you'd only pay $80 or so for the CPU, that's like $140 savings. Take that and get ASUS A7N8X motherboard, about $80-85. $120 savings still. Overclock that bitch the same way I have, 2327mhz with 211FSB. You've already got PC3500 ram listed so you won't be cut short there.
You've got $120 left to put back into that vid card now just by switching to AMD, and you won't do better unless you move to a Athlon 64 or P4EE.

techincally you are running 211fsb and hes running 200. but the p4 has a lot of overclocking potential. yours is very limited since its not a mobile. with a good cooler he can do 3.5+ ghz
but i would rather go with amd and get a 9800pro instead of the se

seriously if youre gnna get a radeon dont cheap out and get a 9800se you would be better off with a 9600 basic. the 9800 pro is so cheap now theres no reason not to spennd another 50 bucks for it.
and why did you get a p4 with HT then cheap out on the motherboard?

If that is actually 256bit then there is potential to unlock all eight pipelines and make it a 9800PRO using the ATI Omega drivers. If you're lucky you won't have any artifacts.

but, that's if he can unlock it. i heard benchmarks on the 9800SE default, were about as good as a 9600 or something. =x
