Not sure if art is really hereditary or not, but when I was 10, I took training from my grandfather on traditional Chinese brush painting. As far as I know, I'm the only one out of my whole family that's actively pursuing a career in art (even if it's in a 3D medium for video games).

Anyway, thought I'd share some of his paintings with you guys, some classic art outside of the computer screen. =)

And my personal favourite: Soaring at a Thousand Feet (http://www.animecafe.net/temp/soaringathousandfeet_small.jpg)

What do the words say? Or is it just the title you said. The Jiuchaikou has a lot of writing to just say that.

Usually some poem or statement from the artist. I can't read a word of Chinese though. =)

Mind you I made this when I was 10 or 12. I would love to get back into it, but I'm sooo out of practice plus I'd have to set up an area for all the tools I still have. It's something I'd definately look into when I retire though, and perhaps teach my kids and grandkids if/when I have them.
