I'm happy it's being made...pissed off who they chose to direct it. John Woo blows as a director. They needed Ridley Scott to direct. He did "Black Hawk Down" and that kicked ass.

Black Hawk Down was ok, i liked it... it tended to spin it's wheels from time to time... Honestly... i would like to see what John Woo does with it... Ridley Scott tends to direct in a somewhat longer and drawn out fashion... not exactly the thing for a fast action film... he shoots in a way that i think wouldnt really be conducive to a film such as this.

As far as director goes, i'd like to see Morgan & Wong or John McTiernan do it... Although, i still think that Patriot Games is the yardstick that all clancy movies are judged against... it was a VERY tight movie... i hope that this one surpasses my expectations, which arent very high mind you, after the total dog of a last clancy movie.

I'm infinitely more excited about this:

Frank Milelr rules, and it looks like he's got huge creative input in the move (co-wrote the screenplay and is co-directing).

It was only a matter of time before this movie got made, it has huge draw potential. Its got tons of action.

I wouldn't be surprised if they spin in some Arab terrorists though instead of the mostly euro and american ones in the book.

But if they stick to the original plan, I'll be laughing in the theatre when they kill off the GreenPeace wanna-bes.

I said they should make this into a movie decades ago. John Woo will probably make it all hong-kong action with leet dual pistols blazing dives over tables and cars and what have you.... hurray

They probably will, euro and american terrorists play better across the world, do not forget what they did in "The Sum of All Fears" that was originally Arab terrorists and they totally rewrote it to be neo-nazi's. They do this kind of thing so it'll be able to get play in the middle east... so it should be kinda true to the book, as so long as John Woo can avoid turning it into a hong kong action style.

What does that have to do with this particular thread?! Stay on subject.

Anyway...I would love to see how they handle a hostage situation with terrorists using snipers and MG placements.

John Woo will do good.
Replacement killers action was super, and what about face-off?that was good also.

I wouldnt worrie Ernie, its gonna be a fun action film.
Story might suck but the action will be good

I first heard of that movie roughly 15 seconds after hearing about Rainbow Six and the two are stuck in my head as one entity?

This movie isn't a John Woo-style movie though. Its not supposed to be like that.

That's the thing, we don't need chinese translated samurai/ninja operas turned...we need someone who's military oriented or at least know how the military works to design something as detailed as Rainbow Six. John Woo is an action movie director for crap like Face-Off...which was more like Blow-Off.

Just as Apache said, it's not an all action movie...it's tactical, military, and the book is in-depth with the characters...we don't need bullettime with this movie. The stupidass thing which pisses everyone off? He's also going to direct Metroid! GRRRR..

They were supposed to do a Duke Nukem movie at one point, with Dolph Lundgren.

I think that'd be great IF and ONLY IF they got Roddy Piper or Bruce Campbell to do the voiceovers.

Actually, the casting was changed to Kurt Russell and it never happened :(

I think Dolph actually looked the part pretty well. Kurt would be ok, due to his Plisken-level of coolness, but if you could dub a movie well enough, Dolph with a Roddy or Bruce voiceover would be kickass.

Remember "SOLDIER"? Kurt Russell packed a mean gun!

wasn't it universal soldier? and yes. that movie was teh pwn

Thordic

No, Soldier. Kurt Russell is a genetically engineering soldier who is deemed obsolete by a new-class of genetically engineered soldiers so they are going to get rid of him but he escapes on a junkyard planet, pretty much, and then they come looking for him but he meets up with some people who live on the planet and they fight back.

It was a pretty cool movie.

Universal Soldiers is a totally different movie. Jean-Claude Van Damme, I believe.

Besides, Duke Nukem is nothing more than a cross between Ash from EVIL DEAD and Snake Pliskin from ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK/LA. So who better to fill the shoes of Duke than Kurt Russell? He looked like him in SOLDIER...just needed some sunglasses.
