GameHavoc CS 1.6 servers...

Good Afternoon Everyone,

OK, why are the servers always empty??? Where are all the regulars? Am I missing the "clue bus"? Are people just leaving when I log on? So I smell that bad?

I wanna play some Counter-Strike with regs! Heck, I wanna play on GameHavoc's servers with anyone!?!

Actually I think people have moved onto other games. I can't think of any FPSs which have really drawn away the CS crowd, but I think it's just been fragmented by Painkiller, UT2k4, BF, BFV, and even some oldschool DoD/NS players. That's just FPS. I myself have gotten so into MMORPG (CoH primarily, but also the WoW beta through S*F). But trust me. This summer when Doom 3 comes out I KNOW everybody will be begging for a server here, and in the late summer (or by fall HOPEFULLY) when we get HL2 and bundled with it, the goodness which is CS2. 0wn3d.

actually, its because none of the regs wanna play on an empty server and with no random noobs joining, it remains empty. Ferret can explain why no random noobs join.

You're absolutely correct, dear Nefarious. I have discovered one of the great causes the server is empty! By default, it seems STEAM applies the "Hide empty servers" filters! Egads!

This means, unless FCS/GH regulars make an effort to play on the server, even if they have to connect by themselves at first and then message/icq/pm/email/irc friends to join, no one else even sees the server!

Egads!

The other reason is that everyone seems to think its my job and mine alone to gather players and get them to play. No thanks, I spend enough time running the site and keeping it happy, you guys can play the games.

Just a note, the CoD server was empty for days.

We've had 8-10 guys on pretty regularly lately.

We should like try to schedule a time when we make an effort to join to make the server fill up.

Like say, I'll say at 7pm every day when I wander off to dinner, I'll connect and idle, to pad the player count while I'm eating.

However, we should turn immunity off for some people (AHEM SPURTY) so when those of us have helped pad the player count and gone AFK, we can boot them if we need the player slot.

When Cool Steal, Smokey, and I get on in the morning on cs2 we get some ppl there. If I get on by myself in the mornings they come. Some regs some not. And I do make an effort to go into MIRC and tell you all that are there to join. ;) that always seems to work. I would have YolkFolk on in the mornings with me too but he had to go out and find him a real job. So now he's hopefully on in the evenings.

So with that being said, mean things to get ppl on are try to fill half of it with regs and others attend to follow. There has been more than a couple of times we had about 6 admins on at a time, which is always fun. But yes if one or two ppl join there are always others that follow. Just don't give up so easy. There are times in the morning that I'll just hang in there while I'm doing some house work and watch the server and I get a bite or time. "Hook, line, and sinker" ;)

the only problem is athena that it is the custom server and once it goes to a map not everyone likes, it empties and never gets ppl in again all day. The #1 server would stay full because those are all maps people have and enjoy.

Actually, this is not the case.. Not always. I've seen the same thing happen to #1 because some of us get tired of dust2.

I got cs1 going last night (with some help from jvenom) but I had to go at about 8 so I dont know how long it lasted. It was fun though. :)

Yeah man, cs always takes a dive this time of year. People are going to this "outside" place were it's suposably sunny and crap.

Ive kinda given up on CS 1.6, Id rather play CZ or CoD..but seeing as all we EVER get in the CZ server are teh bots...
