Jabber anyone?

What is Jabber? Jabber is an open source form of Instant Messaging. I'm putting this idea out to the peoples:

How about a GameHavoc Jabber network? An IM group just for members here.

Trillian can do Jabber, as can a wide range of stuff. But that's for later, implementation stage. We're at planning.

So. GHIM? :)

Nope, its completely seperate from all that. Its like AIM or ICQ, except instead of everyone in the world being on it, it'd be our own private network.

Trillian was just one off the top of my head I know supports Jabber. There's a whole big list of clients. The main thing is, if there was a GH only IM network, would it be teh cool?

i dunno.. in theory it would be pretty cool but it would require that everyone actually used it. That is something i doubt would happen.

I use already MSN,YAHOO, ICQ, AIM (hate it though :P), IRC, sometimes trillion and XFIRE . XFire is a pretty good free program. I suggest it.

I've never enjoyed Trillian for some reason, but I was looking for clients and some seem useful. http://exodus.jabberstudio.org/ this is one client that could be used. Just showing people choices.

spyder, yes.. it does.. as well as a number of other protocols (it has many many plugins)

mike, i don't think trillian support jabber...unless, it's hidden or you have to buy the pro version.

kael, the default trillian skill is ugly. try silver-xp. it's pretty.

also, if we are setting up jabber, to insist that people have the same ID as forums. it's so hard to keep track of who is who...unless it has renaming feature like in trillian.

yeah, he makes a good point. If its a GH only network, people have to use the same name as the forums.
