Remade Deadbeat's poll to add more options, and make it a site poll
What resolution do you play your games at? Vote now so we can have the meaningless statistics and so, haha you suck for playing at that res!

800x600. My elderly computer whines like a failing student when I ask it to perform anything but the simplest of tasks.

Just like to note 1280x960 isnt even proper resolution. (its widescreen i belive)1280x1024 is and you dont have it so I chose 1280x960 cause it is closest. 1280x1024 is my LCD monitors native resolution.

Oops, I'll put 1280x1024. Actually, 1280x1024 is non-standard and used by LCDs mostly. 1280x960 and all of the rest are 4:3 ratio resolutions.
As a final note, I use 1280x960 for EVERYTHING. Desktop, games, etc. Even games where my computer can easily go above that, I still use the same resolution, mainly to make alt+tabbing easier and because I really don't see a difference at a higher resolution that matters much to me. Many games do not enlarge the text at say, 1600x1200, and I have trouble reading stuff.

Actually 1280x960 is the proper resolution. If you do the math its a 4:3 ratio like all other resolutions and your TV. 1280x1024 is the widescreen resoltuion, but it's a lot more popular than 1280x960. 1280x1024 is a 4:3.2 ratio. I also use 1280x1024.

Dammit, Ferret beat me by a minute :P
Pretty much what Ferret said...any higher and text is too small.

I run games at the same resolution as my desktop.

Hpmh... I like my 1280x1024, 'offical' or not. Maybe my monitor's just made for it or something, but everything is still readable.

Hmm, no editing posts. Oh well.
I rarely ever play games, much less full screen. This computer can't support most games that have come out in the last year, or two... maybe three.
So, I'm answering it at my desktop resolution.

Well, with graphic details turned up, my aging pc ran hl2 at 800x600 smoothly, but later I upped it to 1024x768 just cause and delt with framerates in the 20s and 30s. CS:Source seems less pc taxing though, so I play that on 1024x768 and it works beautifully. So I voted 1024x768. It's a good standard resolution :-)

Just for the fun of remembering... I remember back in the day when graphics cards were just starting to get main streamed. I remember playing Quake 2 on software (not video card enhanced) and thinking 1024x768 was a super high resolution. Then I got the brand new gorgeous VooDoo2 2000. Oh was I in heaven when I first saw my beautiful 1024x768, blended textures quake 2. And I kept that voodoo2 2000 up until about my first year at the saladbowl, haha. When was that... only four years ago? Jee, I'm getting old.

One of my friends has an unopened VooDoo 5. So tempting to walk out his house with it.
I use 1240x1024 because it's just right. Although i'm suck with 800x600 when using the source engine.

1024x768 it says it can go higher but i dont have the drivers and after 1024x768 it shuts off till the res goes down to 1024 or lower. maybe the resfrwsh. i dont know.
}
desktop.new.monitor
{
i use 1280x1024 cuz its the native res. and lower res looks crap. i didnt try going hgher. its a 17 ich monitor and everything would be too small.
}
games.new.monitor
{
i use 1024 for games that my video card can handle. 1280+ for older games that my video card tosses around like a bitch.
}
games.old.monitor
{
i play everything in 1024x768 or lower. old monitor == old video card. so whatever i can run on an mx440 i run. up to 1024x768.

Yeah, I know. I just never bothered changing it because, let's face it, they aren't the sharpest graphics in the world... and I lag a bit anyhow. I'm not going to get 85 fps without serious interp.

I'm the lone 640 x 480... I can bump it to 800 x 600, but that leaves me with ~30 fps...
Not anymore!
I use 640 simply because that's what I started on back when I had a shitty computer. I had a brief run-in with 1600, but didn't like it and switched back.

1280x1024 for everything. You're right that 1280x960 is the proper 4:3 ratio, but for some reason when i run 960 it just doesnt look right. Every monitor i've used is normal and not a widescreen (like some laptops), but 960 just looks wierd. 1024 feels right.

1280x960... but i run my CS in a window because my desktop resolution is a tad bigger(1280x1024) this is because of my radeon 9800 pro :)
