Yes. To activate an account, you must have an active subscription. This fee goes to purchasing the initial game content, server maintenance, customer support, and content enhancements and additions. Subscription rates will be announced during the beta test phase, around the end of 2005.

I've never seen a good MMORPG be totally free.

Hell, if you play CS here, that's because of the donations that people made.

Good product = paid product.

If the product is good, a normal price is fine.
