So i buy wow install it and wait for the updates to install and a hour later try to register it and it sayes "cd key already in use" Wth i hate people who use cd key generaters. I spend 50 bucks on a game only to have them steal it and blizzard to tell me to return the product. I say they should give me the account of who ever stole the key.

That sucks. That's why I get so mad when I see people talking in #gamehavoc IRC about looking for a download or crack for World of Warcraft. You're ****ing over other people who legally buy the game if you do so.

I didn't even know they could do that with WoW. Don't you need an account with that CD Key? Are people paying the monthly fee and just not paying the cost of the game?

I would assume so, which is why i think they should give me that persons account.
so what did blizzard do to help you?

They gave me 2 options.
1. return it
2. Send them the box with the cd key and they will send me a new cd key.

I going to try and return it. If i can't do that i'll have no choice but to send it out.
you should be able to exchange it... i mean, if the "disc doesnt work" you should be able to exchange it for the same product right? if htey give you lip, scratch it ;)

A lot of stores are getting smarter and realizingt hat people are getting multiple cd-keys by exchanging for the same product.... so, with that type of software, they don't accept exchanges.

My local stores don't let you exchanged opened MMORPG.
-Gary-

Blizzard used to have a fax-in replacement policy, so call them back up and see if they'll accept a scan of your product # and cd's instead of having to send it all back in to wait for a replacement. Sorry to hear that bro, and the chances of it happening are astronomical. Go buy a lottery ticket just in case your luck hasn't run out yet.

Ah coo you joined us on LS!
where is LS, i am starting to hate my ping of an average of 175-180 on LB
where is LS?
what exactly do you mean? its a central server...

Server ping means very little in WoW. Anything under 250 won't produce visible lag. If you have lag its your PC :) In fact I believe their latency tooltip specificly mentions that it doesn't really mean much.
LB is also still recovering from the heavy load it was slammed with earlier, as it was one of the busiest servers for a bit. Things seem a lot better lately.
How can you find out the server time zones these days?

i still think they could do a better job with sectioning things off, i think the AH should be a portal. into its own world.

Now that I can agree with. That would probably eliminate lag in Ironforge.

Not true at all with the ping. I have a mage on Lightbringer and the lag is driving me insane. So much so I am thinking about going back to Laughing Skulls. At least twice an hour I'll die because a spell takes longer then it should to cast or a mob starts warping so WoW says I am facing the wrong way when in reality I am not. I can deal with most WoW related lag but when it I die unjustly because of it that's just now acceptable.

I'm east coast just like you, and I have no such lag. I'm not sure what timezone LB is in but I only experienced major lag a few weeks back before the 16 hour hardware upgrade outage. I didn't play the week prior to that due to lag.
I played my mage for about 4-5 hours lastnight and had no lag issues.
Its not the server per say, its just different people with different ISPs, etc.

oh, I forgot to say you can find out where the server is located by checking out the time in the top right of the Wow screen. It might not give you a city, or even a state, but you know what coast the server is on.
-Gary-
Doc, the wrong way is not lag its a bug. And I rarely die as a mage and I play with a 400 ping now because I am in college. Only way a mage really dies if he is taking on too strong of a guy I would say 3 levels above. Ironforge is lagging everywhere not just LB people have to remember that. In WoW a under 200 ping is fine. Heck at home I played with a 250 ping and never had any problems. A tenth of a second maybe but as a mage if you are that close in dying that spell might not help. Its more playing style than lag.

only time a 10th of a second helps:
facing 4 guys, killed one, health is at like 5%, kill 2nd guy, gain level, (hp + mana restored), then finish other 2 off. i was sooo lucky when that happened to me =p

I usually have 70-110ping on LS, on the weekend it goes up to about 90-130. I never have problems with lag...if I do then I know the server is going down for a reboot (rare)

One word--walmart. They suck, I know, but their return/exchange policy is second to none.

If you get the facing the wrong way bug you just have to move around a bit until you start hitting them. Also, if you stun the mob it jumps to were it actually is.
