ok i recently reformatted my ocmputer and now i set my rates (i think) back to where they were but (only playing CS) i get a lot of choke for some reason now and i rarely did on ANY server... like 50s range spiking... my raet is 9999... cmd 100... updaterate 45... any ideas?

server to client:
rate = 2500 to 20000 in bytes/sec
cl_updaterate = 20 default, max 100 in packets/sec

client to server:
cl_rate = 9999 bytes/sec (never change this)
cl_cmdrate = 30 default, max 100 in packets/sec (rule of thumb here is to have this equal your average FPS to keep things in sync)

Choke happens when your server to client is higher than your client to server, and drowns your outgoing data (i.e. you're choking on receiving too much).

Try setting it back to defaults, as well as your rate to say, 5000 and see what happens, then slowly raise each up little by little.
