I'm getting recent problems with logging into the site. For some reason now, each time I visit this site I have to type in my Username and Password again. I checked the keep me logged in box, but it's not working. This is also happening only recently, I never had this problem before. Any ideas?

I'm having this problem too in IE, but not with Nutscrape.

This occasionally occurs with people, on a random basis. The usual fix is to clear your cookies.

Tried that, didn't work.

Try cleaning your temporary internet files. I haven't had this occur in a long long time (Since the site opened), and I always use IE.

Hrms. I could do that. I wouldn't think it would matter though. This site should only be generating one cookie, so what its named shouldn't cause a problem.

I think I'm good now, Cookie Monster just ate all my cookies and I think it's working now. Thanks.

Scratch that, it's not working. :(

Tech.. Quick question.. Where are you logging in front? Do you use the "login" link near the top of the page, or the login fields on th front portal page? Maybe those are broken (Though I've used them with no problem this weekend..)

I've tried both on my win2k box at work, IE. Every time I close IE down, I have to relogin. Works fine with nutscrape at home.

Are your IE security settings blocking the cookie?

ive tried everything ferret, the login on the main page, the forum page login. both dont work. my security settings are not blocking cookies. they are rather low.

Don't believe so. All other cookies are working correctly.

One thing to watch for is that you load the site using the same address each time. From the server's point of view "gamehavoc.com" and "www.gamehavoc.com" are two different sites, and each will set its own cookies. Be consistent for the best results. (Although the server could also be configured to push all non-'www' requests into 'www' mode.)

ya i know what you mean darien, because phpbb is setup that it recognizes a homepage as www.gamehavoc.com not http://gamehavoc.com therefore it should still go into the same folder if you have it setup right on apache. but i still think there is a buggy cookie going around. FERRET! did you steal the cookie from the cookie jar?

I've never touched the cookie code. My cookies work no matter the hostname I use (gamehavoc.com, www.gamehavoc.com, or the one I use from work to get around websense)

Yupe, just so you know that there IS a difference as to how you access gamehavoc.com and www.gamehavoc.com from the point of view of cookies:

Accessing www.gamehavoc.com assigns me a cookie which will expire when I close the session (Kill web client) however ...
Access gamehavoc.com assigns me a cookie which will expire in 2006

Note the differences in bold, Here are my cookies (FNAR) :
Name: phpbb2mysql_data
Content: <SECRET>
Host: gamehavoc.com
Path: /
Send For: Any type of connection
Expires: Saturday, January 21, 2006 3:20:28 PM

Name: phpbb2mysql_t
Content: <SECRET>
Host: www.gamehavoc.com
Path:/
Send For: Any type of connection
Expires: at end of session

Its important to note that you may be assigned both cookies from one page if the page is actually located at gamehavoc.com not www.gamehavoc.com (or vice versa).

If the above paragraph is a bit hard to understand, just think of a page being made up with content from different urls. i.e. I can create a framed page that takes a page from www.gamehavoc.com in the rightframe.html and gamehavoc.com in the leftframe.html, but the user is viewing a page index.html which is www.gamehavoc.com

I'd assume you were accessing via www.gamehavoc.com. Just type gamehavoc.com in the URL once and you should be good for about a year

Well, what ever you did, you made it worse. :(

It's still no longer remembering me under IE. If I try to login to the forums from the login promt at the bottom of the forum list, it kicks me out to the main webpage and I have to login again.
