Here's an update on what's currently being worked on for February (And a brief overview of what's been done this month)
#1) In February, the extra money earned from Google and extra donation money not used in the payment for the primary game server will be used to purchase a second machine with the same Hardware. At that time, all Source based games (CSS, HL2DM, and the NAKED private server) will be moved to that machine. The IPs of those servers will be changing as a result. This seperates the HL1 games from the HL2 games, which should increase performance all around, as they don't like running together. This will open up a lot of room on the primary server, and I will begin looking at opening a fourth CS 1.6 server. At this time, we have not decided what format it will take, but we've discussed both an all-custom server and a SPAZ server. After that, the primary server will be "locked" and no new game servers will be added, since it runs best with no more than 4 servers. I will also be considering putting UT2K4 back up on the new machine. The activity of all servers has drastically increased.
#2) The webpage will be recieving a major overhaul in February. Several community members are in the process of helping to develope new graphics to use with the site, and in February we should have something to unveil. We made release a demo image in the near future. I will be reorganizing the front portal page quite a bit but the general layout of the forums won't change much. But for those of you who like lots of pretty graphics, they're on the way.
#3) More webpage stuff.. I will be adding stat pages for CS3 (And the new CS4), and hopefully be restarting the NS stats. We will be also adding a section that details people who have been kicked or banned and provide details concerning such.
#4) Yet more webpage.. I will hopefully find time to recode portions of the photo album to make it more user friendly.
Stuff that we've done in January:
#1) All servers have been converted to AMXX. AMXX has a much better support structure than AMX, and much better documentation. It allows the plugin coders to do more and do it more efficiently. In fact we've ran into some problems with old AMX plugins running TOO fast, because AMXX is much better optimized.
#2) The NS server has been moved from Spurty's server (which is going away in March) to a server provided by Tech. This moves the server out of Minnesoda and into a more central location. Pings all around should be improved. The machine is Windows based so shouldn't ever lag (There are major bugs in the Linux copy of NS). We've also installed new commands and plugins to the server, including a ready room blocker to aid in team stacking, and increased the experience levels in CO from 10 to 13. There's lots of players in the past week here so enjoy.
#3) Two new moderators were added to the forums, Kael and Doc Wattson.
#4) The General Lounge and Pics & Vids forums have gone away. They have been recreated in the form of the General Discussion On-Topic Forum and the Lounge Off-Topic Forum. Random stuff should be posted in the Lounge while more serious posts that you don't want hijacked should be in General Discussion.
So lots of happenings. Just like to keep people updated though!
