Hey all:
SO since this game dropped in price, I've been able to pick it up. And if you like a flight sim, it will not disappoint. This game is beautiful. Although it was a launch game, or close to launch with the 360, it is pretty impressive visually.
The story, unlike the graphics is absolutely terrible. Terrible. This japanese voice over thing just isn't that cool. Basically, the story focuses on this blondie who's husband is a fighter pilot. She thinks her daugther gets killed in the originally attack against the city she lives in, and then she sees her husbands "plane" shot down. It happens just way too fast, and I'm prompted to ask the question - "I don't even know this character, so why do I care what is going on with her life? Give me the big guns!" If you can overlook this, you'll be gold.
The controls to any flight sim are key and I did struggle at the beginning when I tried to use the more complicated controls. They have a "noob" controller set up and if you want to be instantly good, it's the way to go. But if you struggle through the first level or two with the more advanced stuff, you'll find it much more rewarding.
The weapons themselves are pretty neat - I like the missle camera, and the way things blow up. It's cool. But naturally, there needs to be a supreme weapon and having the ability to launch 4 missles at once at 4 separate targets is pretty over powered in my opinion. It's fun, don't get me wrong, but it's totally off the wall and not realistic.
But otherwise for 29.99, it's worth it.
happy flying,
-d.
