I asked this somewhere else before, but never got an answer. What is the reason behind Uma's character's name being bleeped out most of the movie until she kills the chick with the eyepatch, then it is never bleeped again?

For fun?
keeps you wondering who she is?
Maybe Doc can give a better answer.

because QT did want you to know what her name was until you saw the second part.

but QT did it in the second part too. In the begining when Bill was talking to the other guy in the trailer. He did it until the chick said it. Why was it important that the chick revieled what Uma's name was?

I presume it was just one of his techniques for chracter development. Until that point, espeically in the first movie, all you knew was her fake name and her deadlier side. As the movies go on you find out more about the real Uma (I forget her real name) and find out the history behind her and Bill's actions. As the fake Bill and Uma move aside and we are exposed to the real Bill and Uma we see both Bill's face and learn Uma's name. When the first Kill Bill starts you anticapte a final confrontation between a hired Assasign (Uma) and a Warlord (Bill). By the end of the second film you are instead watching a wounded mother and scorned lover. It has become something much more real and personal, untill we understand why it's personal to these characters we only know them as cartoonish action heroes, not people.
As for the exact time her name is revieled I'd give a combo answer. QT likes to keep things fresh by mixing elements. Having a scene just to reveal Uma's name wouldn't be his style, character development in the middle of kung Fu is just the way he likes to progress a story. The other reason is till that point she fought people who hated Black Momba or were just on Bill's side. Darrlye Hannah was the first person who wanted to kill Betrice Kiddo (I think that is her name, it just came back to me). Hannah has always lived in her shadow, both personally with Bill and profesionally with swordplay. It was a big deal that Hannah wanted not to just to kill Black Momba but everything that embodies Betrice Kiddo.
Then again, what do I know.

kick ass movie, have to see the 2nd one very soon.they are very different, i personally liked the second one better, most my friends like the 1st one better, i dunno. the first one is more out of control senseless violence. the second one is really sweet with good plot and character development. they are both very good.

Well the first one satisfied my desire for senseless artistic violence. and the second fulfilled me with most everything else.

wow, Doc, I'm completely satisfied by that answer
The first movie, I was luke-warm about. I've seen more satisfying violence in other places. I saw the 2nd one to finish the story expecting nothing but more of the same and walked out thinking it was one of the coolest movies I've ever seen.

If that's the case Stealth I'll probably like the 2nd one just as much if not better. While I do like senseless violence, I do enjoy a good plot and getting to know characters more.

Let's bring back an old thread here:
I was watching Kill Bill 1 today and have another question about this movie. Why does Uma's character only wake up in the hospital when the mosquito bites her? I'm assuming by that point she's been stuck with many needles and when know she got raped, but it's the small bug that wakes her up. any clue?

I dunno, but I just watched these for the first time a couple weeks ago. I don't get the hype. I realize that it's a period film, or a retro piece , or something. But the whole thing seemed pretty silly.
Some cool fight scenes, but the blood in Part 1 was so over the top as to be embarrassingly rediculous.

Who really knows what brings someone who's in a coma out of it? Obviously her body had to heal for the, what, 4-6 years, particularly being shot in the head.

It's been awhile since I've seen the movie, I'd need to see it again to make a guess about the mosquito. I thought I'd quote my answer to my first question since it was one of the greatest answers ever given in game havoc's history.
