Taking the Console Plunge again...

So I've decided I want a new console... and its gonna be the 360 due to it having the games I want to play and a lot of friends are on Xbox Live.

Question to those who have one: Is the extra hard drive space on the $400 version, and included gadgetry worth it over the $300 version (that now comes with HDMI output, but less gadgetry)?

Yes, with all the XBL downloads and videos and such, you'd run out fast on a 20gb drive.

honestly, I have the 20 GB and I don't really ever have a space problem.

if you plan on using it for renting TV shows and movies etc, you might.

but once you download and play a demo, delete it and you have yourself free space.

plus, if you find you need more space, I believe the larger extra HDD is only about 100 bucks anyway.

I got a 60 gig. Perfect size for me. I do some downloading and the 20 went by fast. Now everything is always about the same.

The NEWER 20gigs have hdmi.

The main question would be how much you are looking to download for demos and such. The elite is idea, but the pro system is usually more than enough for most of the people that I know with 360's.

Yea, I know the old systems didn't have HDMI. That was one of the selling points to the Elite, it was the first 360 to have an HDMI port. I just wasn't sure if the other versions of the console had them yet.

So if you have an HDTV just make sure you get a newer asembled console instead of one that has been sitting around awhile with outdated ports.

... Got the Elite... and a Samsung 37" LCD with 1080p... I'm loving the graphics... now if only i could get my home network to recognize the xbox so i could get on live...

without live, your system is USELESS.

just kidding, I hardly play on live, but it's good to have it hooked up for game updates, DLC etc.

and so you can keep track of where your buddies are playing.

there is a gamertag thread in the xbox forum somewhere.

I'm going to troubleshoot it today... I'm confused as to why my PC plugged into the network port on the wall gets internet connection just fine, but the 360 is showing "disconnected" when it tests.

I need to get a splitter so I can log into the router from the PC at the same time as the 360 is connected, too... bestbuy @ lunch here i come!

... got the splitter hooked up yesterday, 360 recognizes theres a computer attached, but Live was down... today I should be able to get on Live, and hopefully the xbox website will have the updates for Media Center so I can get that cookin today too... they were down along with Live yesterday.
