I have some extra money now, I just bought HL2, but for one that have never played a MMORPG, would I enjoy playing WoW, or is it not a noob friendly game?

WoW is fairly noob friendly (UNlike say, EQ in the past). Its easy to get started, with lots of help hints that come up. Getting to level 6 is pretty easy, but then the difficulty begins to scale upward.

JAC, buy morrowind 3, a cheaper rpg game that will give you a basic feel for those types of games. It will save you the 12-15 bucks a month and by the time you finish morrowind, wow will have dropped its price.

I disagree 100%. Morrowind is a great game, don't get me wrong, but to say you can get the feel of an online RPG by playing an off line one is tottally wrong. It's like saying you can see how counter strike plays by playing condition zero. No, wrong wrong wrong.

JAC, if you do decide to get WoW just join the Laughing Skulls server. We have about 80 people (I think) in our guild, many of which are GameHavoc people. We will be more then happy to help you learn the game.

P.S. Ignore Ferret telling you to play on his server, they have about 4 people from gamehavoc there.

hey doc stfu, now you guys are pissing me off. Dont tell people not to play on our server. We have over 4 members easily. And we have fun. LS people bequiet if people want to go alliance let them. If people want to go horde fine. otherwise STFU.
Im normally a nice guy but you guys are starting to really piss me the **** off. We have fun, we do not need 80 people at the moment.

It's like saying you can see how counter strike plays by playing condition zero.

I'd say they share fundamental similarities... and you could easily learn to play counter-strike online from having played against the bots in condition zero. This is essentially what we're trying to do for JAC.

Comments have been made in multiple threads by people playing on LS. Its mostly just harmless joking, but it is beginning to get annoying.

Doc: I expect better of you, seriously. Stop being a complete asshole about servers.

At this time, the Lightbringer roster includes me, Kamie, ds91, Turambar, Kael, Spurty/fist, newbreed. Yeah, that's right, just 7, not 15 or so. But you know what? Who gives a damn. We have fun. A damn lot more fun then I had playing on LS for that matter.

Friendly rivalry doesn't warrant being mentioned in damn nearly every thread. There's a number of reasons I don't play on LS, one of which being that I have extreme lag there now days, that I didn't when I started. Lightbringer has its bouts of lags too, but they're random, while on LS they're constant. Plus, dwarves are fun.

Penny Aracade? What this have to do with that? I think they suck, that's my oppinion, I'm allowed to have it. For all the people in these forums to call me a downer you are the least likly I'd listen to canon. You are gamehavoc's most negative person, you are always picking a fight.

Ferret, I've mentioned "play on our server, not theirs" in like four threads. I bet all those threads are in the WoW area. I don't mention it in "damn nearly every thread". Hope you are talking about more then me here, if you aren't you are way off base.

And if you want to know the truth I am slightly disapointed in you dragging people to a different server. The main reason I bought WoW was to play with GameHavoc people. I ask what server you are on, you say LaughingSkulls, so I start there. All of the sudden you go to a different server and try to get people to follow you and the community is split. That's how it goes, no big deal, but please get this stick out of your ass about me telling people to play with HAD on Laughing Skulls when you are the one who caused the split by dragging people to a different server.

I stand by the fact JAC that if you are 100% new to these games you should join Laughing Skulls. We have a much larger community there with a much more diverse amount of lvls in our guild and with a majority of them playing Beta. You'll have fun on the other server but if you want people to help you see the game and figure it out there are just better people to do that on Laughing Skulls and more of them. I can't tell you how many times a day people in HAD save me time by leading me in the right direction, and by time I mean at least an hour a day of pointless wandering not knowing what to do next for a quest. As you gain lvls and see more of the world and quest/Mobs get harder you need a support system to help you out, something that I just don't see on the Alliance server since no one is on there who is of high lvl.

I've made my feelings known, no need for a flame, so unless vital I won't respond to this issue anymore as I think it's foolish. Feel free to keep making a mountain out of a mole hill.

JAC, I stand by saying Morrowind isn't close to playing a MMORPG. The condition zero was a semi good example but it doesn't show the difference entirly. CS you can just leave whenever. in a game like WoW there are times you depend on other people, there is a bond and community formed. There is a whole economy that Nub pointed out. There are trade skills. There are times like last night where Nub, myself, Linz, and two other people spent four hours on a mission fighting for our lives. You don't get that from Morrowing.

World of Warcraft (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/worldofwarcraft/index.html?q=Wow) won game of the year from gamespot. The best thing I can recomend is to watch the 9 minute video review at that link and get a fell for the game. THe revierew explains teh game rather well, talks about the pros and cons, and you get to see video of the game as he talks.

Watch the review, get the game, then play where ever you want. You'll have fun no matter what you do.

Or you can play on both servers like I'm gonna do :)
I'm very caught up in my dwarf right now, but I'm sure there will come a time when I wanna play Horde and/or PvP

Btw, I think Canon was being sarcastic :P

Ferret, I've mentioned "play on our server, not theirs" in like four threads. I bet all those threads are in the WoW area.

I was refering solely to threads in this forum, and multiple individuals. But specificly I believe you went ojn for about 4 posts in one thread about how ghey we were for playing alliance and how shitty and crappy our server was. It simply wasn't needed or called for.

Actually, I didn't split anything. Kamie was already playing on Lightbringer, because she didn't want to do PvP. Then ds91 and Spurty got sick of PvP and didn't want to play on LS. Since Kamie wanted me to play with her, and I'm not so hot for PVP myself, I followed them to Lightbringer. Others who wanted to play Alliance and not PVP then followed. I didn't drag anyone, plenty of people had been asking for an Alliance server and complaining that they had to play Horde to play with GH people, and didn't want to. For the record, LS and LB are just the two servers advertised on this forum. Members from this forum play on at least 5 other servers as well.

Got beta people on Lightbringer too. What does it matter? I enjoy playing the game with or without high level people to help. Personally, I prefer to figure things out on my own and don't like excessive mentoring, but that's just me. I don't want help, part of the fun for me is figuring things out. We don't need a high-level support system on Lightbringer because we all started about the same time: We our BUILDING our support system, rather than having it already there and just given to us. We level together, we quest together. You don't NEED high level people to hold your hand.

The whole reason this thread has gone in this direction is that several of us on Lightbringer, who are there BECAUSE WE DON'T LIKE PVP, or want to play Alliance, have practically been attacked or ridiculed for it. How about you just let us play where we want? Every comment from you doesn't have to be "You could play on Lightbringer, but alliance is gay and we have 5x people on LS" when people ask where to play.
