thinking of buying

So I am thinking of buying a Xbox360. Ok well I know I want to buy one. I decided I was going to buy the 20gig which in total with shipping comes out to be about 330

What would be a good game to get that is already out or is coming out very soon?
I was thinking Gears of War.... for now... and then trade it in and get gears of war 2 when that comes out. Ideas?

360's been out for a while, I'd almost be worried about buying one now... with the cycle that's been happening lately, I'd expect the next incarnation within a year. But I also don't follow console news.

True. The xbox was years after the gamecube and ps2. And the xbox360 was the first to arrive of the wii and ps3. I'm afraid microsoft is going to try to shove a new system down our throats in a year or two. Sega made that mistake in the 90s; too many systems in too little time.

Personally I'd get a PS3 over a 360 now unless you have friends on live you NEED to play with. It's a more powerful system and with more exclusives that aren't coming to the PC.

I doubt a new system is coming out within a year though. They might announce a system in a year and have it come out in two years, but I personally don't see a new system coming out till 2010.

right now, the 360 has more titles and a larger back catalog of games.

the ps3 has a few games coming up in the future, aka GoW 3 and the new final fantasy game.

but the 360 also has a decent selection of exclusive titles too.

To me you are either a PC/PS3 guy or a 360 guy. To ge ta 360 and a gaming PC seems stupid unless you need to be on live for friend.

FFXIII is going to the 360 also now. Not the other FF games though, but who cares about the Chocaboo racers and such.

Who cares about four year old games? What am I gonna do, buy Full Auto and Halo 1?

FFVII isn't only one of the most over rated games of all time but if someone buys a system because of a remake of a decade old game then they shouldn't be buying the system in the first place.

i have a 360 AND a gaming PC, and there are plenty of games that are out for the 360 that aren't out for the PC. There are also plenty of games that ARE better on the 360.

Sadly, none of them are FPS games.

The PS3 is getting there, but there is still no real reason to buy one over a 360 yet.

Mark my words, the day that GoW III is released, I will be buying a PS3. Or FFVII remake.

Playstation lost a bunch of it's exclusive titles - the only one notable is Metal Gear Solid if you like that type of game.

Otherwise, the 360 has everything you need.

But, to each his own.

I will say that the blue ray player is a plus for sure. So if you want, get a PS3. No hair off my back.

So because YOU don't like Halo or Live, Nades shouldn't get a 360?

The whole thread was about Nades looking into a 360 after already owning a PS3.

The question is, does Nades have a good gaming computer? If he doesn't then a 360 could make sense. Many 360 games may have come out on computer, but if he can't run them, then why not a 360? Also for shorter games like Gears of War, he could rent it and finish it in a week rather then having to buy it and own it on a PC.

PS3 may have "a lot of exclusive titles" but how many GOOD exclusive titles does it have. MGS4 is the only one that comes to mind.

That's all fine and dandy if the 360 doesn't do anything for you Doc, but this thread isn't about you.

except for FPSes, most games that come out on both the 360 and the PC are better on the 360. bigger TV, control scheme designed specifically for a 360 controller, integrated achievements with your gamer tag, built in server/game/buddy list/finder thingy, an assurance the game will run, etc.

that only applies to games like devil may cry, assassin's creed, etc.

Nah, not happening for awhile - expect at least 2 years before they even start thinking of developing for another console generation. The only issues you might encounter for the XBox 360 are: larger HDD, HDMI video port (has happened) and switch from DVD to Blu-Ray (only a matter of time really).

lol. All the cool kids do play the 360 and I miss my old naked buddies that I know own a 360. I have a kickass computer that I can play a lot of the games on but to me there is a difference. Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 and 1 are the reasons I want it.

Anyways I already ordered one. Comes tomorrow. Go me!

I guess I can respect your opinion but I also thought of the 360 in another way. I have a half sister that works at Microsoft = deals for my games.

She is actually sending me a care package <3 my half sister.

my ex-boss/cousin works at MS, and gets games for ridiculously cheap. he has kids though, so buys most of the games for them. never really asked him about it, but i assume they have limits on purchasing games. :P
