Good game or greatest game?
I'm loving it so far and I'm only 30 mintues in. As always the voice acting graphics and game play are polished "to a mirror shine"
Can't wait for more plot! squeals!

It wouldn't be worth setting foot in a walmart if it was free.

i always thought the Metal Gear games were highly overrated. The gameplay wasn't the great, the graphics were always good though.
Oh, and the story was lame as shit, and took control over the game for waaaaaay too long.
If i owned a PS3 I would buy it, but i'll be holding out for God of War 3 for my PS3 purchase.

Gameplay wasn't great? You obvious hate great games. Some of the boss battles are the greatest ever in video game history.

I read an article on a BBC news blog that stated that MGS4 has TWO cutscenes that break the 90 minute mark. NINETY minutes. An hour and a half, and there are two of them. And people thought Xenosaga was like watching a movie.

The difference is, MGS is actually interesting.

Not really. Xenosaga is one of my favorite games, and series of games. I was pissed when they cut it down to three games instead of the original seven. The precursor Xenogears is one of my all time favorites. But as this thread is not about great RPGs, I won't get into it.

Is that the game where you're a nerdy scientist and you have some robot girl help you or something? I think I played this game over Christmas on the PS2.. unfortunately, it was the only game available.. I think I put up with about 1 hour of it. I know video games are the same 30 seconds over and over again, but xeno/whatever made sure you knew it.

From what I gather all the long cut scenes aren't till the later part of the game. One review I read saud the first half of the game is 80% gameplay, 20% story while the 2nd half is 20% gameplay, 80% story. Most say the first half of the game is a contender for best game ever but the 2nd half drives you up a wall.
Yes, rent it.

MGS2 was kinda like that, towards the end it was more cut scenes than action while the beginning was the opposite.

'Well I just finished mgs 4
MY official review is that
If you never played any of the games don't buy it, the game is 60 % cut scenes 40% game play. And if you have no background, this game would be a snooze fest.
Now if you have played any MGS games this game makes references to all 5 games before it: Metal Gear, Metal Gear II: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid II: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
I lovfed the game from start to finish and will be replaying it without killing anyone woo hoo!

I haven't play the game TK but I haven't heard any review say you can't get what is going on or that it isn't worth playing if you haven't done the old games. I know there are references and such but I doubt you will be clueless about everything, at least more clueless then most are playing any Metal Gear game.

I would presume the mad crazy stabs to their face do also. You don't need to know story for that.

Again it's episodic Gaming, you can play half life 2 without having to play 1, but it makes 2 that much better

Right, I agree with that. I wouldn't tell someone not to play HL2 unless they played HL1 though.
