You've missed my sarcasm. It'd make more sense if you'd been involved in all the arguing between us over WoW in IRC :P

After going back and forth with it, I have to agree that paying a monthly fee after paying $50 for a game is lame. I got rid of my xbox for the same reason. I'll just stick with what my $45 a month internet connection and $1700 computer can give me for just the price of the game.

I'm assuming you are referring to the cost of the xbox subscription, yes it is only $50 a year, but with all the money microsoft has you'd think they could offer the service for free (like ps2) instead of nickel and diming their customers to death. I think the final straw with xbox was having to pay $5.00 to get two new maps on Pandora Tomorrow. I have a hard time paying for services that should be free. Any games on xbox I can get bigger and better on my pc, and I have the benefit of using my keyboard/mouse or a usb controller AND the benefit of playing for free online.

My internet connection already costs $45 a month.

most DLs for live are free, only a few cost money and its usualy worth the one time cost of $5.

Also if i remember correctly some PS2 games require a monthly pay to use...I think they were some of the sports games...might be wrong seeing as how I dont have a PS2 (plan to eventually)

To add to the point Microsoft maintains all the servers Xbox live in run on, hence the cost. Sony has nothing to do with the servers for their games, they put the cost on the game maker. Some of those game makers charge, some don't.

I don't have any #s to back this up but I don't think Microsoft makes much money, if any, off of XBox live. They do it in hopes the service will help sell more XBoxs. Seems to have worked.
