WoW has the worse patcher ever. What fools they are to depend on P2P! Not only does it ruin my internet connection to the point I have to restart my comp to get full use of it back but in almost 12 hours I'd DLed 512kb of a 40 meg patch. WTG WoW patcher.
I've called tech support. Took me 30 minutes to get through, was on hold an hour, on the phone at least an hour working with a tech support guy, and got nothing out of my 2.5 hours of time spent. In the end the Tech support guy said he couldn't figure it out and would E-mail me if he thinks of anything. Yea right, llike I'll ever hear from him. WTG WoW Tech Support.
If I could get a refund on MMORPG this game would be going back. As is when I bitched to Blizzard costomer support their reply was they'll give me free playing time. Well thanks, free playing time is just want I want fora game I can't get to work. WTG Wow Customer Support.
This game might have to burn in my X-mas fire.

Yeah took me four hours total to download and install cause of 2 1/2 download and having to restart the installation like 3 times. Blizzard should pay for their own throughput and bandwidth and stick this ****er on a server with plenty of space for ppl to download. I love the game but if I have to put up with this every patch...

I tired that. Blue and Fist were kind enough to link me to patchs. I use both but the WoW app STILL wanted to DL a patch. No go, didn't work.

I didn't have any trouble with it. When downloading the patch for Kamie's PC it dropped the tracker a few times back still had 50megs down in under 15 minutes. After you finish downloading, it leaves the patch in your WOW directory.
I can send you the two patches I've downloaded, or the one big patch Kamie's downloaded, if you want to try them. Kamie's would be for a fresh install.
sadly for doc, the patch originally corrupted on him. we dont know why... really sucks for him too cause it wouldnt accept what i had afterwards so he is FORCED to use the blizzard bittorent client gayness they call a downloader.

Or, he could reinstall and apply the patch fresh.
Anyways, there's multiple threads about the patcher on the WoW forums, they'll probably change it soon.

I like how you bought a game for $50 and then figure that you're getting a few months "free."

At which point you will have paid $50 to play a game for one month... with the hopes of acquiring the months paid for by someone else.
I'm just saying, you didn't get anything for free from Blizzard. They charged you $50 to play a game for one month.

i would have someone test the account first before i went out and bought it. and even then, i probably wouldnt buy it, i would hack it.

You can't hack an MMORPG :/ Not really. Are you going to hack Blizzard's account database and sneak in an account? This isn't a no-cd type thing. (Btw, WoW doesn't require a cd to be in the drive)

im saying hack the program itself and install it, then have someone else pay for the account.

Getting the program isn't a problem. Installing it doesn't require a cd key or anything, and you don't need the cds after installing.
You need the cd key when registering your account.
Yeah, I definitely do not think that will work.

thats what im saying. i could easily get the game without paying for it. i would just need someone to pay for the account.

Since you STILL need a cd key to get an account, and that means BUYING the game...
Aren't you really just saying.. "I'll have my parents buy it"?

whoever buys my account would buy the game, therefor have the cd key.

I think Nef is trying to say he is gonna steal in a round about way. Have someone pay without them knowing it.

Hehe, don't we wish ;). They've had that P2P since Alpha. Lots of people complained, but it just was not going to happen. Who knows, they are changing more things now that they have a larger complaint list (for example, the auction houses were "never" going to link, but now they're thinking about it).
I have a higher tolerance for downloading the patch because I've downloaded approx. 10-12 patches for this game overall, and I was playing the game for free for about 7 months. But for the rest of you, it's really ridiculous that Blizzard is still pulling this crap. In no way are they justified. Sure, I feel bad for them, but there should be compensation. If I hadn't played this game before, I probably would agree with Doc 100%. But because I really, really, really, enjoy this game and see it's potential, I don't mind that I'm not getting 4 hours of playtime here and there.

Never fear. I will be hosting the patches on GH from here on out. If you've had problems with the downloader, and can wait for me to get home and download the patch, I'll provide a link for you.
The latest patch is sitting in here:

NOTICE: This patch is designed to be applied to a FRESH install only. I imagine no one else needs it right now anyways.
