Subject: Eviction Notice
Applies to: All Period Basis Residents
As of Saturday the 15th of December MC, KIA, Ev0ke and 0utbreak claim the region of Period Basis as our home. We urge all current Period Basis residents to make other living arrangements. Those who do not will be put to the sword. We ask for no quarter and shall give none.
We do this for ourselves, our fellow brethren of space. Once our new home is secure, MC and KIA will be available for regular contract work, unfettered by the agendas of foreign powers.
Finally, a short message from all of us to all of you courtesy of Dire Lauthris.
Welcome to 2008. (http://eve-files.com/dl/140300) - EVE Files
Loxy Mirror (http://www.loxyriderfilms.com/movies/2008.wmv)
That is all.

Apparently I'm missing some odd codec for WMV that they used for the video. Can't seem to get it to work.

FYI, you NEVER stop training skills EVER in EVE.
Levelling up is outside of the game play.
Smokey needs to do some level 3 missions with me

yeah, that's the part that I'm having a problem coming to turns with, as it take such a drastic seperation from every other RPG i've ever played. Actions do not directly result in levels.
It makes doing missions that much more difficult, because I don't particularly see the point. I'm grinding out rep, I suppose, but that is even a little nebulous. Not really sure why, or how far. And then if I get 2 low-sec missions in a row, i have to stop for an hour. :(
You should grab the beta to PotBS spurty, I think, as you said, there are a lot of EVE-like tendencies to the ship part of the game. And the crafting.

Ah, I'm not that interested if you can't own Islands yourself and crafting is just too dumb a concept to care about.
Also, grinding for levels is for the 'farmers', just not interested in this aspect anymore :-)
More game play, less 'DING' levelled / congrats nonsense ;-)

yeah, but EVE makes you grind too, just real life grinding time. =/ As you've said, you hafta put 6 months into the game before you can legitametly take part in the fun stuff. And that isn't something that I could do in 3 months if I spent a lot of time at it, that's something that is basically capped.
I think that i'm just far to invested in the pavlovian ideal, i do a quest/kill a mob, I want some XP that will go towards raising my characters level and therefore letting me get new skills which make killing mobs faster and easier, and makes it so that I can get even more powerful skills.
I feel just a little too lost in EVE, and I really don't have the time-sink commitment time for a game like that I don't think.
Still, I logged on to start a new skill, we'll see when my trial runs out.
And pirates is really starting to bore me. Crafting system is far to arcane, involving different ports, resource, structures, man hours (based, again, in real life time) etc. And all the missions are the same.
Sigh, I need another MMORPG.

Anyone who says you need a 6 month investement knows nothing about the game. You can be useful straight out of the box. We have people in Snigg atm who are still in their first month of play, and they are playing up to the level of those of us with 3 years in. Sure they aren't able to go out solo and own, but after a few days of learning how to fly they are able to contribute in our gangs and have great fun doing so.

yah it has its ups and downs.
I'm currently earning ISK to buy 3 more command ships.
I find the game more enjoyable if you get into the story (i.e. get into an alliance that is active) and do objectives for others rather than yourself.
Daneb = a very tidy spy for spurty ;)

one thing to remember about this game, its like no other game when it comes to PVP.
In every other game, PVP is without any serious consequence.
At worst, in other games, its an inconvience to die. In EVE, it is very costly and people seriously suffer from nerves in fights.
You can hear rookie pilots on TS shaking as they give intel ;-)
Name another game that makes you so scared to fight you tremble?

Indeed, it's the only game that cranks my heart rate during pvp, even though I don't get to do much pvp. But the times I remember were awsome fun.
When I fly into PvP the only time I experience the fight or flight instinct is when I've something to lose. If I fly a ship n clone that won't matter if I win/lose that instinct is comply nullified. If I'm angry / annoyed with the events unfolding I'll take to the fight. Rarely have the flight fear and only when I'm haul some multi billion assets. Last time I had such a sensation what when I was fighting Triumverate in o-2 with Storm Armada using my carrier and some inty was bumping me off the stn so I was reluctant but warped away. The inty was able to follow but failed to do anything as I was cloaked, aligned to the stn again, n when he flew so far out I decloaked and warped to dock. I have an image of the encounter on my GH site.
BTW: I'm not really content with my current corporation anymore, they've turned greedy, inactive, and rarely help when it comes to building the corporation's assets. So I'm getting a feel for the market and what opportunities are apart of GH. Would really like a 0.0 corp based in gallente/minmatar space but I'll even settle for 0.0 corp currently rebuilding in empire.

If you want, I can put you in contact with some higher-ups in my corp. We're currently based in Perrigen Falls (I think that's the new name...one of the drone regions). We're part of Atlas Alliance.

Wish i could Spurty, but Snigg recruitment is closed until after the war. I'm having trouble getting an RL friend in atm. They want him to get some kills on a killboard first, then they'll let him join.

rgr, same deal with tri, recruitment is closed at the mo (20mill skill points and a killboard to show you are an active PVP'er are baseline requirements for when they open up again).
