I am very very interested in seeing this movie when it comes out. The movie trailer looked really good and it has my Vin in it. Course I am just a 100% fan of him sooo my review could be biased after I see the whole movie even if it bad suckyness. I enjoyed the first movie Pitch Black and this is like the Part 2 of it. Just a different name I guess to make it sound like its not a sequel deal but it is.

The game takes place just before the prequel, The Chronicles of Riddick takes place 14 years before Pitch Black, and so on. The game looks damn good...it's for X-BOX and it uses the Doom 3 engine. X-PLAY on TechTV said it looked sweet...and I saw the trailer for the game like a month ago. I agree.

im not sure, seems like there must be a book or something. pitch black was a fairly uniform sci fi thriller where people crash land on a planet that is infested with nasty aliens that come out at night and kill everything. and like riddick makes it off alive and its over. it was a good movie mind you but nothing like an epic movie this prequil looks to be

Pitch Black is about a ship that crashed on a planet that is transporting a criminal (Riddick). Everything seems fine but the sun never sets. They soon find out that the sun will set and not rise for a very long time (since the planet has very long days and nights). They also find out there were people who lived on the planet before but they all got killed by something that comes out at night. They convince Riddick to help them find a way off the planet since he has artifical eyes and can see in the dark. People love the Riddick character because he is a criminal who is evil yet is the hero in this paticular circumstance.

Pitch and Chronicles are sorta related. I wathced Pitch Black on Sci-Fi and they showed the makings of The Chronicles Of Riddick. They said the girl that survives PB and Riddick and the guy that survives are all in CoR. The girl tries to find Riddick and i think the guy is killed by him. I'm not sure.

Sorta related? CoR is a prequel...it shows the backstory as to why Riddick has the ability to see perfectly at night, why he's considered dangerous, and why he's a re-caught prisoner.

I do believe I saw on the site that there will be a cartoon "The Chronicles of Riddick - Dark Fury" (http://www.darkfurydvd.com/) by Peter Chung, Vin does the voice over for Riddick as well. Peter Chung you may know for his work on Animatrix as well. From the Synopsis about this one it's a bridge of what happened to him in though lost 5 yrs, BETWEEN Pictch Black and CoR.

Check out Rottentomatoes.com, it get something like a 30% which includes all reviews, and then only a 11% from the top reviewers (like siskel, latimes, etc.). It's BAD.

I saw it. It was.. entertaining at most. No oscar winning, that is for sure. I expected alot MORE riddic vs necro. Alot of scenes you will be scratching your head thinking "wtf is that? how did he/she get there from where? blah blah blah" yeh, there are some good action scenes, some bad scenes, and some confusing and disapointing scenes. I watched "Pitch Black" last night, it was a decent movie. I give it a 8/10 just because the concept was not incredibly original (al a Alien and Predator). Even those this type of genre is one of my favorite, which is why i did truely think it was a fun movie. I also felt like they were cutting some of the scenes and leaving short bits of information out that were relevant to the current plot taking place.

Tonight I plan to see The Chronicles of Riddick, ill let you know what i think.

Hah. The movie was crap. Since I have an hour to kill, it was crap on so many levels.

**CONTAINS SPOILERS, HIGHLIGHT TEXT TO READ DO NOT QUOTE ME OR TEXT WILL SHOW**
Why this movie sucked on a point to point basis (no order):

*The Necromongers weren't sci-fi, they were magical and had NO background to them

*The elemental race was only there so that they could stick another special effect on Judy Densch. She added NOTHING to the plot other than they're a race which remains impartial but likes to mess around behind the scenes, but ultimate sucks just as much as the humans.

*The whole, "You're not the last Furian, I'm a Furian too, and it took me this long to overcome my brainwashing, so instead of living my life, I'll go walk into the sunlight and burn now.

*The on-again/off-again physics of the movie: i.e. The changing day length of Creamatorium... very fast from -700-->+300 when it's suspense building time, but FOREVER when they're running on the lava plains. Also, apparently the air while breathable on Creamatorium doesn't conduct heat at all (Vin Diesel chillin' in the space garage while stupid-Furian is walking on sunshine)

*No background of why the Necromongers were taking over the universe, just to be badasses

*After we decimate 90% of your planet, we're going to hold a town council with a bunch of bumpkins and one-by-one ask you to repent and join the dark side.

*Thandi Newton while hot delivers her worst performance yet

*Absolutely no explanation of how a busted ass bald boy-looking of a girl turns into one of the hottest women in the universe. (Jack-->Kyra)

*Little to none character development between Jack and Riddick. I didn't feel for her when she died (thanks for ruining that for me too Low-Light, that was an ass thing to do), and I felt their relationship could have been developed more by cutting out some of the 3rd circle characters (such as the bounty hunters, prisoner gang leaders, Furian-sunlight guy, etc.)

*The one-liners were absolutely horrible. We're talking Schwarzenegger bad, except you expect them from him. More like Jean-Claude Van Damme bad or even Steven Segal bad.

*Stupid lines/scenes which should have been cut: Riddick petting the doggies 'cause he's more badass than badass alien doggies, almost all of sunlight-Furian's scenes, Riddick-ulous one-liners, Riddick getting tortured by the upsidedown-orgasming alien snail-chicks.

*Things they could have expanded on/filled in to actually flesh out this B- plotline into a decent sci-fi flick: expand on the love story arc/big brother arc of Riddick on Jack, establish more of a background on these aliens and their motives other than he's been to the darkiverse and is awsm and wants everybody else to be darkiverse awsm too... yeah I know it's the "Underverse" but I refuse to call it that) give the Rock looking guy (the 2nd in command et tu brutus guy) a backbone instead of half sneaking around with hottie Thandie Newton and plotting to kill the guy, and then shirking down from killing Riddick with a blaster, or even dropping a nuke or two on the planet before leaving him on Creamatorium.

All in all, this movie was probably no better than a C-. I've seen worse, but not many. It had much it could have done to actually build up a mythos so I'd be interested in the next two of the trilogy which I doubt will get made now (look at the box office sales). You gotta remember, I saw this movie for FREE. Had I paid for this movie instead of with just 2 hours of my life, I'm sure my review would have been even more negative.

Computer Game, (XBox only?) shows who RIddick was, how he got his eyes, why he knows prisons etc.

Pitchblack = Bounty run gone bad after the computer game, ALIENS .. RAWR

Chronicals of Riddick (Same name as the computer game?? GG marketing) shows what happened 6 odd years after Pitch black and starts off with a Bounty Run gone bad ..

I liked it, but there again, I like RPGs and this is clearly an attempt to make the series into an RPG at some point .. Elementals and Clerics etc ..

Loved the FX though .. Watch Riddick if the Choice if Harry Potter or Riddick.
