How much do you drink, what kind do you drink, and do you put anything in it?

I drink 1 travel mug on the way to work, it's a blend called "oro negro" from a small roastery in Iowa. Very tasty. I also drink about 5 styrofoam cups of the shitty instant coffee from the machine at work.

I also drink it straight up, no cream or sugar shit. black as night, and strong as raptor-jesus.

yeah, on the weekends when i'm at home all day, it's definetly a full 10 cup pot I take out in the morning.

i've thought about bringing a coffee maker to work, but I just deal with their shit. I've kind of gotten used to it now.

I'm pretty much the exact same. Drink it black, I've tried cuttin back a little bit but it's failing. I'd say 2 - 4 small styro's a day.

If it's at home, I grind it and brew it. I really enjoy Caribou's Sumatra, but I'll basically drink any decent whole bean flavor. Papa Nicholas is pretty good, as well as some Starbucks flavors. Gevalia is probably my most favorite brand of coffee though, unfortunately you can't but it in stores.

I definitely like the darker blends, my wife likes french vanilla and all that girly shit. I smack her around with my sumatra bags.

At work here, the other superintendent on the site. Let me tell you how he makes and drinks coffee. He comes in at 6 AM, i come in at 7. He's got half a pot down by the time I get to work, plus the cup he picked up at Gas City on the way in. Then, when the first pot is empty, he takes and throws a few tablespoons of new grounds on top of the old grounds and re-brews it. Also, I've never once seen him clean the pot or the maker, it's disgusting. But I still drink it. It's......something else, I go home and my freshly ground clean brewed coffee tastes like gold.

This post was entirely way to long for this topic, I apologize. Maybe I've had too much coffee today.

I usually do something simple and cheap (I'm in college after all) like a seasonal bold blend from Third Place, a local coffee shop.

I use a heaping (i.e. ****ing mountainous) teaspoon per cup and drink it blacker than Samuel Jackson.

I only make a pot about 3 times a week, but I always drink the whole pot within that day.

None.

Hot chocolate in the morning though, followed by regular doses of Dr. Pepper.

I drink 1 styrofoam cup a day of what I like to call "The Office Sludge". It's an instant coffee machine unholy combination of bad coffee and suprisingly good hot chocolate.

It's enough caffine to get the morning going (I've started better eating habits therefore need caffine only for the beginning of the day), due to the hot chocolate it's sweet enough and requries no sugar.

It's free, the hot chocolate beats the taste of bad coffee and at only one cup a day it's relativly healthy.

I have, on average, 8 different kinds of whole coffee beans of various brands and varieties stored in the freezer (in bags) or in air-tight containers. Most weekday mornings either the wife or I pick one at random, then clean the pot and filter while the beans grind. Then we brew "8" cups. What this really means is she gets one regular-sized cup of coffee, and I get two mega-mugs of coffee. We sweeten with either sugar or sucralose or aspartame, depending on what we have handy or are in the mood for. She will add a bit of milk.

On weekends, we dip into our espresso bean stash and craft some lattes, topped with foam, chocolate syrup, caramel, cocoa or cinnamon.

it's ground down the street at the coffee shop. i go through it fast enough that freshness really isn't an issue.

How much do you drink, what kind do you drink, and do you put anything in it?Lots, whatever I get my hands on, no.

There's a coffee machine at work that has this really crappy coffee machine (http://http/www.greenmountaincoffee.com/shop/Accessories/Keurig-Single-Cup-Coffee-Brewers?X=7239&Y=2227&c1=single-cup+brewer%7Ebrewers&source=adwords+brewers+abovefold+ad1&kw=k%20cup%20coffee%20machine). I get the darkest stuff they have, and brew it over ice. It's tolerable.

At home I buy whatever's cheapest at Wal-Mart, the stuff ground to a fine powder, and brew a whole pot using a gold filter--which results in every cup having a layer of silt on the bottom. After choking down a hot cup, I throw the pot in the fridge and drink it over ice for the next couple days until it's gone.

I used to work in a coffee shop, and drank gourmet coffee from far off lands every day. Like a wine connoisseur, I could tell the characteristics of a certain bean and why it is that way. I was living the high life.

Now I’m a third shift worker, married with a kid, and drinking the cheapest shit I can get my hands on, and lots of it. Where did it all go wrong???

I keep several varieties in the freezer as whole-bean and grind as needed;about 2 pots/day.Most are VERY dark and/or heavily roasted.

At home:

Charbucks Espresso blend (stop calling it "expresso", you know who you are!) in the fridge. I currently grind it with a cheapy grinder. :( I will be upgrading to a burr grinder this xmas. I only use filtered water and also never buy more than 1 pound/time. Coffee has a short shelf life. O2 and light are the enemy.

Starbucks:

(Yes, starbucks because where I live there aren't many local places) I'll occasionally do the COD. If it's a floral, citrus, earthy blend I'll pass because as it cools it tastes awfully bitter, imo. (ex: Ubora). If I'm passing on the COD I'll get an Americano (coffee made by combining espresso and water) or a Doppio <3 espresso.

I spent quite a few months learning about coffee as I helped my uncle in opening a coffee franchise. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be and the building design hindered our sales. I still have the roaster's information and had thought about ordering some coffee from him. There was a gentleman that would fix our Cimbali SuperAuto if we had issues with it and he would always ask who our roaster was. He would say we had the best espresso he had ever had. Imo, it was winsauce.

I consume about 2-8 cups/day.

sadly Starsmuchs espresso that I self grind, with raw sugar and topped with a firm froth.

At work I drink a mocha-hazelnut blend I make from the machine about 8 cups a day

starbucks chai is awful. if you like starbucks chai, then you do NOT like chai. it's plain and simple.

support your local coffee shop -- i do. it may be just as expensive as starbucks, but most of the time, the quality of their product is much higher.

I live in a college town, so we have three independent coffee shops. They're all pretty sweet, but Third Place is the best one out of all of them.

Black, putting anything in coffee takes away from the flavor goodness. My wife likes cream, but never sugar.

My wife and I like...
at local shops, we usually try something different depending mood.
at Starbucks, Verona or Sumatra.
at home, (Costa Rican) Tarazu or Organic Breakfast blend (from Trader Joes).
at work, I use my Espresso maker.

trader joes has good coffee. we don't have that chain where i live but a friend brought some back from the east coast and it was really good for "grocery store" stuff.

Sumatra's bad, they've been killing off rain forest for more coffee crops. African coffee in general has some bad karma. When I do get fancy stuff I usually stick to South American coffee, and when I want to be really bleeding-heart I get the stuff labeled "free trade".

Mostly I just drink plain old Folgers from Columbia.

Everyone should try Jamaican Blue Mountain at least once.
Also that "blood-diamond" philosophy is going to be very hard to live up to as most Folgers,Maxwell House etc , are blends of many coffees from many regions.

Jamaican Blue is great, the place I worked sold it for $32 a pound! Hawaii Kona is another great one.

It's not hard to avoid African coffee, I buy the 100% Columbian Folgers. If I do have a hankering for African (I love Ethiopian as well as Sumatra, a 50/50 blend is heavenly) I make sure it has "Fair Trade" on the label.
