Televised news coverage today is such a spineless tool of the establishment.

When this story "broke" last night, the reporters were all agast on CNN Headline news, that a fellow journalist would do something so underhanded and disrespetfull.

Fox News, of course, accused the reporter of treason.

I guess I don't understand the problem. It was obviously a legitment question, and the GI didn't get forced into asking it. The reporter is out there with these guys every day, driving around in the same equipment these troops are. He didn't get a chance to ask the question, so found someone who could (And in all probability probably wanted to ask something similar anyways).

If no body is willing to talk about a highly important issue, sometimes you have to force their hand. Now they have to talk about it, and Rumsfield looks like an idiot for that comment about the "army you have" vs the "army you wish you had"... Way to boost moral.

The issues are still there no matter who was behind them being asked. Just sounds like a diversion from what is really going on.

A lot of the televised media reporters these days are total pussies, afraid to ask any difficult question. This is compunded by the administration refusing to talk again to anyone who does, giving prescripted press conferances, and refusing to answer questions directly.

Frankly, Rumsfeld has always been a pompous ass in these situations. He evades such questions badly and ridicules the question rather then answer it. If you recall during the invasion, when asked about the looting problems, he alleged that there wasn't wide spread looting and that the media was really just reshowing the same looting at one site from multiple camera angles, to make it LOOK like there was mass looking.

"How many 2000 year old vases are they trying to claim there are in Iraq being stolen?"

I think a lot of the world are total pussies. Yes, I know, I'm one of the liberal pussies too. I just believe in balance, and for every extremist there needs to be a reactionist--for every liberal pussy there needs to be a conservative warmonger. I think the balance has shifted too much in the pussy direction.

I like the quote in the Daily Show's book:1974: Watergate!: President brought down by investigative journalists. Investigative journalists declare "nice work," take rest of millennium off.

for every liberal pussy there needs to be a conservative warmonger

Frankly, I'd be able to deal with liberal pussies then warmongerers. If you said for every liberal "P.C.er" there was one conservative Bible-thumper, I could deal with that.
