It's been updateing "something" for tlike the past three days... but it says it's not currently updating any games.

Network usage says 1.2mb/sec

It gets confused sometimes. The monitor is never right. Do you have just CS installed or all the mods? It might be updating DOD or another game in the background, or maybe even still preloading HL2.

Or maybe its just crazy, restart it.

cs:s had a big update the other day. they didnt tell you it was a big update but it downloaded like 500megs into the css cache file/ check it. its like 889mb now from the 300+ it was before.

This is the remaining CSS content being preloaded. It has also been released to the dedicated servers. Office, Havana, Italy, Dust2, etc, etc.

No .bsp's yet though.

you think they will release it soon to the public? Or will I have to wait till HL2?

This was really Pre-Load 4 of HL2, and I believe the final Preload. They announced it Monday (27th), even though it looks like they actually released it on the 20th.
