Two brothers trying to find the philosopher's stone so they can return their bodies to normal.
One has a metal hand and the other is an empty suit of armor.

Very good and exciting story.

Unnecessary Elaboration: They lost their body parts and such because they tried to use alchemy (The "magic" of this story) to raise their mother from the dead. Lots of plot surrounding what Man should or should not do, ie, when man steps onto "God's" territory.

(Been playing KOTORII... Go HK-47!)

American verison with this anime is about the same really. After you watch the series I do suggest dowloading the movie. Its not a OAV but an actual continuation of the story.

Think of it as old world alchemy. "Turning lead into gold" type of stuff. Revolves mostly around the principle of equivelent exchange and how the Elric brothers payed the price of attempting human transmutation (bringing back the dead).

Also, the movie nicely complements the series which is rare, so watch it after the series. Just becareful, the subbed version I saw of the movie was done so horribly it was almost unbearable.

Just saw the last episode of the series.

Amazing story.

Kind of sad and it makes you think...

Show me to the movie at once!

Thanks Dew.

That was a really good movie.

Kinda sad that the series ends, but I guess that's the price we have to pay for an exciting plot, no fillers and characters actually dying.
Equivalent trade... ;)

The English dialogue, especially that of the younger brother, is painful... well, maybe *only* the brother.

The show should center around Armstrong.

haha. Yes.

I'm glad when a good series ends. Especially when it ends well. I find it bothersome when a good series runs on and on and on..
