So over the past year i have been competing in mixed martial arts. Ultimate fighting for those who don't understand the term MMA. I have my first fight in almost 5 months, due to injury, on the 19th of May. My last fight was my first professional fight; I unfortunately lost. After the loss and it being a professional fight i realized i was no where near prepared to go into another professional fight. I injured my knee training about two weeks after the fight. I had to have MRIs X-rays the works and there was talk about possible surgery. Well after some extensive physical theropy i feel i am finally ready to step back in and fight once again. I will be fighting a semi-professional bout on the 19th of May.

Kick some ass in your fight.
What discipline's have you studied? What's your strength's?
What weight class are you?

thanks.
i train brazilian juijitsu, boxing, muay thai/kick boxing, and a little bit of judo. and then of course i spar quite often in no holds barred.
I have a really good chin, i found that out in my first pro fight. I am really flexible so i don't feel pain in any submission until my joint pops or breaks. Which can be both good and bad. i have really good stand up, i have heavy hands with pretty good speed. i think my weakness is still on the ground. I am at a point where my juijitsu instructor has a hard time getting me to tap, but i always find myself on the defense. However, my instructor has sparred with guys like shawn shureck...or however you spell his name (he had a fight not to long ago in the UFC- whatever one was arlovski vs sylvia-he has also had a match against matt hughes a while back) so you have some background on who i spar with.
currently i am a light heavy wieght, however i have thought about cutting down to middle wieght...I think i would be a bit better at middle wieght than light heavy. I can hold my own at light heavy, but i think for my body type i would be best to drop a wieght class.

Cool to hear man, good luck on the 19th!
Yeah I know who Sean Sherk is, he's pretty damn good and I was glad to see him win his last fight at UFC 59....then again I was also glad when Georges St.Pierre beat this piss out of him before that! (Gotta chear for my Canuck boys :D )
How long have you been doing BJJ? (that's Brazillian Juijitsu before someone makes a lame ass BJ joke)
I'm considering training in that.

I did a bit of Amateur MMA for awhile till I broke my collarbone (getting dropped on your head hurts)
I learned CQC from a friend of mine in the British Marines (don't remember their actual title). I did alot of boxing and olympic freestyle wrestling. My upright was good but my mat work was the best. My problem was I had very little flexibility due to muscle mass from years of lifting weight which has since turned to fat ( I really need to exercise). My other problem was I had very little true martial arts training. I mainly "brawled" and did little technique other than my wrestling mat work. I should have pursued it a bit more.
And good luck man,
I know how hard it is to get into the type of shape where you can do that.

I have been training consistantly in BJJ for about a year. I would highly recommend it. However, be sure you find a good teacher who can explain each movement well. If you don't get the technique it will fail. Make sure to train with a lot of people too. also go slow at first. technique technique technique
