Recommendations to start

I'd like to get into anime... but I need to start slow, I think. I'd like something obscenely violent with subtle sexual overtones.

What've you got for me?

Hellsing. If you want blood and gore and violence.. No sex, but Hellsing is kick ass. Its about modern vampires.

Well at the beginning of Hellsing the priest tries to molest the police girl. And there is almost some hint of sexuality hidden (and sometimes not so hidden) in pretty much every episode.

There's not so much sex in Bleach as there are some crude jokes such as ridiculously large breasts on at least 3 characters. Violence and blood? Hmms, yeah, plenty of that.

Elfen lied is prob one of the best 13 eps anime ever made... and it fits all your anime "requirments".. if u wanna pick up a manga...then go find Zetman

I'd say Cowboy Bebop. It was my first anime series. Very light, and very serious at times, can also be hilarious. Sexual overtones are around, but it's not the focus. The artwork is some of the best in the industry as well, I love it.

Definetly one of my favorite anime's.

Edit: And don't get trapped into watching dubbed anime. Only watch the original subtitled version, except in extreme circumstances.

Gantz will piss you off. It had potential, but failed to deliver. You'd be happier cutting out 20 episodes.
Hellsing is ok, but animation was meh at some points. The plot was so/so and character development seemed incomplete. Trinity Blood was better.
Bleach is about the same as Naruto, with a better plot. Both have blood, no sexual undertones(possibly slight), and no one dies..
Bebop was good, but doesn't fit your 'reqs'
Haven't seen Tenjou Tenge, except maybe the movie..

Azureus or ABC for torrents. Azureus is java based so it pulls more proc. power. If you have something for torrents already then you just need the .torrent file.

Do not use azureus. It has a feature called decentralized tracking. It tries to pass tracking information around the tracking server, and screws up with the tracker's statistics and "cheats" at the upload/download scheme of BT. Many trackers are IP banning azureus users as a result.

I use ABC. Its lightweight without the unneeded bullshit of Azureus.

You can turn off decentralized tracking in Azureus. I prefer ABC/bittornado though.

If you prefer. Bit Torrent is simple enough. Other clients such as Bit tornado, bit comet, abc, azureus allow for more control such as: If I'm downloading a series I can sya to dowload Episode 1 one first or give it higher priority.
