i play 1.6 elsewhere. not because i dont like the gh server but its always empty like 1000% of the time. plus when people are on it we always play stock maps while thats cool i would like to play a fun custom map once in a while like scoutsknives/iceworld/ka_mapname/aim_mapname.

so i mostly play elsewhere.

cut that bitch . or maybe you could just recude the number of players to 6 for those 2 people who are always playing on it...must be invisible cuz i never see em.

It wasn't an option, but I only play CZ now. I play that elsewhere because I've never seen more than 1 non bot player on the gamehavoc servers. If I want to play against bots, I can set my own server up and have a 0 ping and end the round when I die. I see no need for online bots.

What's that have to do with the CS server? I'm hestitant to go spliting the NS server into two, seeing as its getting a good bit of activity and I'd rather not ruin it.

most people ping better and get along on TFC. plenty of GH member have admin there so other than the occasional mis-hap by some retard admin (which happens everywhere), you should be fine to play there. they have a very good mix of custom/stock and there is always an admin available to chaneg maps if things heads south due to a stupid map.
again, realistically, save some resources for other games. shut it off.

TFC sucks hardcore and I ping around 100. I ping 30-50 on gh. May it burn in hell. MAWG is fun though.

Ditto. I lag much higher on TFC, and I've had a lot of people tell me that. When the CS server was down and we were using TFC, that was the number one complaint.

TFC and GH are equally terrible when it comes to lag, except usually on TFC I end up having 70+ choke the entire time I'm on there. Also, with TFC, I like having to open console and type retry every time a map is over. Most of the time, I have to wait about a minute or so because my steam considers the server to be down between map changes, rather than switching cleanly into the next.

Getting kicked randomly is fun too.

When I play computer games, it's either single player or CS. However, I've been away from CS for various reasons for the last month or two. When I do play, I play on a server with players on it in this order:
MAWG
GH
KwikDeath
TFC

The problem is MAWG and GH almost never have people on in the late morning, early afternoon when I can only play.

I would not, in all honesty, miss the GH server if it went down, even though I have the most fun there. If it's eating resourced for other things, shut it down. I know GH will most likely have a CS2/CS:S whatever server up once HL2 finally sometime maybe ships.

As for map rotations, I play on aztec/inferno/dust2/etc servers mostly cause they have the players (when I'm logging in for 1 hour total in over 2 months, I don't want to be waiting for one other person to join), despite being sick of the stock maps. I'd love to find a server playing, say, 80% custom in their rotation that always has players who are not assholes, but I haven't been able to in the last 2 years or so.

I would like to keep the cs server for now until HL2 comes out. But if there is not enough ppl to support it to run it then I say get rid of it. I wish I had cz to play on that server a little more as well. (BTW, my b-day is coming up you all can pitch in and buy it for me, ;) lol) I like to play a little more of the custom maps myself as well and I don't mind play the stock maps either. Maybe two custom maps to one stock map, I don't know. Or maybe a custom de or cs map and then an aim, ke, he, fun map and then a stock map. It's a thought is all. I only play on GH server for cs any more. If I'm not there, I either have something I have to do or I'm play more Battlefield Nam.

Idiots always exist. I haven't really seen any blatant hacking and I've put about 14 hours of game play in since Friday, during prime time.

Psychostats isn't doing a lot of stuff the way I want right now. Its being worked on. I rebuilt it today and its keeping up with weapon damage now, but I haven't gotten it to do headshot yet.

It relies on statsme for a lot of its information and I'm not sure I really want to turn that on, its uses a lot of CPU.

statsme isn't installed. Our CS server has fewer mods than most. We have the basic AMX admin plugins, then mapvote and UFFC. That's it. I've turned off nearly everything else, and ripped out half the rest. UFFC is the only one that could possibly cause lag anyways, and I assure you, its too simple to do so.

The only stats I care about are hit stats. I find I play a lot better when I know if my bullets are connecting or not. As someone who doesn't play CS that much and who is use to other games net codes I can go a long period of time thinking I am aiming properly only to find out later I wasn't hitting a thing.

My updaterate was 20-25 and my cmdrate was 35-40 back when I played 1.6 consistently on gh. Once I started going higher than that loss and choke started creeping in.

Its not my fault you've tweaked your settings to the point that you can't play anywhere but East server that are half a mile away. 101 update rate is a real waste, and pointless unless your boardband has the same speed both ways. Do what you want, but that's your problem.

The map vote only brings up stock maps, unless something is nominated. If I made a normal map cycle, I would have to actually put custom maps into it, which I'm sure you'd detest even more. Right now, people can nominate custom maps, but chances are they won't get voted in.
